Pirate Swords

So as you know we are knee deep in birthday party planning.  This weekend we finished up several projects including pirate swords!

These are super fun and so easy to do.  All you need is 2 sheets of newspaper, a little tape and a piece of scrap cardboard the size of a cd.

Lay the two pieces of newspaper on top of each other.  Start in one corner and roll as tightly as possible on the diagonal.

You want to roll the newspaper so there is only one spot that needs to be taped to hold it together.

Fold up the bottom of one end of the stick into a handle and tape.

Trace around a cd onto a piece of cardboard.  Cut out the outside and inside circle and fit onto the sword.

You can decorate the cardboard disc if you would like, but do this before you put it on the sword.

And there you have it - a quick and easy pirate sword for your favorite swashbuckler.
